Maddie was another one of the summer interns at Lost Canyon this summer and I can not even express to you how blessed I am that I know her and can call her a friend. After spending everyday for three months together we got to know each other pretty well if you ask me. We could tell when each other was having a bad day, we could laugh together, cry together, learn about the Lord, run together and BEST PART OF ALL, we got to CELEBRATE HER ENGAGEMENT together! Yup, that's right... this girl who grew up her whole life in Ohio got engaged in Arizona! Jeff, her now husband flew all the way to Arizona to visit Maddie and little did she know that he was going to propose to her. Let's just talk about Jeff for a sec shall we. From the first time Maddie spoke about him I knew he must be a pretty cool guy. Turns out he is. It was so fun to have him at camp for the short time he was able to come, he fit right in. It was like we had known him for ages. But the day he came to camp there was a HUGE storm, the biggest we had all summer! Hail was falling, more like POURING from the grey skies. If you walked out into it you would be drenched in the matter of seconds. It was wild. BUT all of us knew that Jeff's plan was to take Maddie to the Grand Canyon to propose and this weather definitely made us all nervous, but none the less we encouraged them to go and told them that the weather would be clear at the Grand Canyon...and it was. They drove out to one of God's most beautiful creations and Jeff washed Maddie's feet, said some beautiful words, gave her a bible that had Madison Elizabeth Thompson written on it, and popped the question. And then we got to celebrate!! It was so fun to get to be apart of it all. And what was even MORE fun was to be at the wedding. I cannot even begin to tell you how welcomed and loved us Arizona folk felt when coming to Ohio. Her best friends and housemates definitely made me feel like an "unofficial" best friend while I was there. And to see Maddie walk down the aisle was something I am so happy I got to see. Oh gosh, I could go on and on. To sum it up, Maddie and Jeff are a great couple and I see Jesus in them like no other. I just love LOVE so much.
